We care deeply about where our food (and yours!) comes from, and we are proud to work with only the best producers, including many small family farms. To us, the best means those who operate with respect for the environment and their employees, humane treatment of animals, rigorous quality standards, and sustainable, natural practices.

Here are a few of our trusted partners:
Bradley Farm

Fifteen years ago, 317 Springtown Road was an abandoned 27 acres farm, and an eyesore to everyone. What Ray saw was an opportunity to actualize his dreams of having a place to raise animals and grow vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers to share with others. Full of potential, his field of dreams has become a working farm, home to chickens, bees, pigs, and the occasional stray cat, along with row after row of vegetables, flowers and herbs.

Bobolink Dairy and Bakehouse
Good, wholesome, nutritious food is a passion for us, and creating good food in a sustainable manner, while healing the earth, is our life’s mission.

Bobolink Dairy and Bakehouse was founded by Jonathan and Nina White in 2002, on leased farmland. We purchased a 186 acre farmstead in Milford, NJ in March of 2010, and moved our family, herd and business to Milford in June 2010.

The Bobolink is a ground-nesting bird that relies on undisturbed grasslands for its reproduction. As such, they are compatible with pastured animals, but cannot tolerate tilled cropland. Once as common as the robin, they are now severely limited across their entire range.
By naming our business for this creature, we hope to increase public awareness about how important it is for agriculture to respect and nurture wildlife.

In the 2016 season, we'll be milking approximately 35 cows, and we have a bumper crop of young heifers and bulls of our new breed, the Bobolink Blacks, which are the result of crossing several common "modern" dairy breeds (Ayrshire, Guernsey, Jersey, etc.) with the ancient Kerry cattle of Ireland.

Our Bakehouse creates breads and pastries that are made with heritage and heirloom grains, risen slowly for maximum flavor and nutrition. We are grateful to artisan grain growers, who provide us with top quality raw materials to bake in our wood-fired oven!

Down Home Acres

A little bit about Paul, Hana and Down Home Acres... A small scale sustainable and ecologically sound farm. We grow what we want to feed ourselves and our two sweet toddlers...nutritious food grown without the use of herbicides, pesticides, fungicides and GMO's. We strive to improve the health of our soil by adding compost and aged manures, cover cropping and field crop rotation. Our river bottom land has high mineral levels which is one of the many reasons why our vegetables are so full of flavor and nutrition!
We love the taste old-time heirloom tomatoes! Did you know we grow over 50 varieties of tomatoes? Ranging from the delicious heirloom brandywine to the super sweet sungold cherry tomato. We also have an obsession with KALE! Drive by our farm and you will see fields of kale..purple kale, green kale, tuscan kale, baby kale, micro kale...you name it, we grow it. 2017 will bring exciting new additions to our farm and we can't wait to share the bounty with you. You can buy our produce in Manhattan and order it from your favorite restaurants through out NYC!
We love to give back to our community and those in need. In 2016 we donated over 4,000 pounds of fresh produce to help feed NYC's hungry through the organization City Harvest. Locally, we welcomed students from the Sidney Elementary schools gardening club and donated kale for their farm to table fresh kale smoothie day! We gladly accept FMNP and WIC checks at our farm and at our markets. We will continue to strengthen our community bonds in 2017. 2017 will be our 7th growing season and we look forward to welcoming back all of our dedicated supporters and meeting new people who love good fresh food.

In December 2002, Dan & Susan Gibson cashed in their corporate lives and started Grazin‘ Angus Acres (GAA) in Ghent, NY (Columbia County). The 500 acre farm quickly built a grass-fed & finished Black Angus herd employing a holistic, synergistic, rotational grazing system combined with numerous egg mobiles to produce great tasting and healthy animal proteins while also restoring the land. Today there are 300 head of pure-bred Black Angus beef cattle and 9 large egg mobiles (1000 heritage laying hens). The farm also pasture raises meat chickens and about 100 heritage Tamworth pigs per year. Most recently (June 2012) GAA started a micro-dairy of pure-bred grass-fed Jersey cows. All GAA livestock is exclusively fed either clean grass (the cattle), or certified organic soy-free grain (chickens/pigs). Further, GAA was the first NYC Green Market farm to become Animal Welfare Approved (AWA). The Gibson‘s son, Keith, runs the farm and you can see him most weeks at the Union Square(Saturday) or Museum of Natural History(Sunday) Green Market Locations.

In October of 2011, with their son-in-law, Chip, the Gibsons started Grazin‘ Farm-To-Table: Direct, an organic burger joint, in Hudson, NY. Grazin‘ is the first completely Animal Welfare Approved restaurant in the world. Every animal protein comes from a small family farm that is pasture based and is held to the highest livestock welfare standards. Most of the proteins come directly from Grazin‘ Angus Acres. The concept has been met with great success and the second Grazin‘ opened in March of 2015 in Tribeca, NYC.

Because Grazin‘ restaurant scraps consist of the best organic ingredients, our pigs get leftover dairy, rolls and fries etc., (not any meat) composting rather than wasting!

We think there should be more Grazin‘s and even more completely Animal Welfare Approved restaurants! Its‘ harder and more expensive but worth it! No animal protein used at Grazin‘ comes off the back of a truck from the typical restaurant supply company. You‘ll see farmer trucks at Grazin‘ and they will be paid directly for their efforts.
